Kukui Nut Oil

Kukui Nut Oil is the lamp in the dark. In Hawaii, the kukui nut was once burned for light, and the tree is still called a symbol of enlightenment and protection. In the Apothecary, it represents guidance, warmth, and the small flame that carries us through the night.

Kukui Nut Oil is pressed from the nuts of the kukui tree, also known as the candlenut tree. Kukui is the official state tree of Hawaii. Early Hawaiians burned the oily nuts as candles and torches, which is how the tree earned its association with light, guidance, and protection.

For generations, Hawaiian families have used kukui nut oil to care for skin exposed to sun, salt water, and wind. It has long been part of island life, used on skin after long days in the sun and on the ocean.

Kukui Nut Oil is light and quick to absorb, giving body and hair oils a smooth, silky feel without a greasy finish. It helps dry, weathered skin feel soft and comfortable. Its gentle texture makes it a lovely choice for body oils, massage blends, and after-sun care, where it leaves skin feeling soft and conditioned rather than coated.

In hair care, kukui oil helps smooth strands and add a natural-looking shine without weighing them down. In balms and butters, it lightens richer ingredients so they spread more easily.

Kukui nut oil has a very mild, slightly nutty scent that blends easily with tropical and floral notes. It carries a sense of island warmth, the small flame of the kukui candle, into every formula it touches.
