A fine, rust-red clay that gives balms a warm desert hue.
A natural earth pigment that gives the Miner Balm its desert-red hue.

Red Brazilian Clay is the earth itself. Iron-rich and sun-colored, it carries the warmth of the land it came from. In the Apothecary, it represents grounding, endurance, and the strength of those who work the earth.
Red Brazilian Clay is a natural mineral clay mined from the earth in Brazil. Its warm, rust-red color comes from iron oxides, the same natural minerals that give red rocks, canyon walls, and desert soil their color. After it is mined, the clay is dried in the sun, ground into a fine, silky powder, and sifted so that it feels smooth and soft.
Clays have been used in body care for thousands of years, from ancient Egyptian beauty rituals to Indigenous traditions around the world. Each clay has its own color and character, depending on the minerals in the earth where it formed.
Red Brazilian Clay is a soft, natural clay used to tint balms and soaps a warm rust-red. It gives products their earthy, desert-inspired color and a smooth, silky feel. In soap, a small amount creates a beautiful terracotta hue, while more clay deepens the color to a rich brick red. In balms, it adds a warm tint and a velvety, slightly matte finish.
Clay is also popular in face masks, where it is mixed with water and applied to the skin, leaving it feeling fresh, smooth, and clean once rinsed away.
In our Miner Balm, red Brazilian clay is the color of the desert: grounding, warm, and honest, a reminder of the strength of the land and the people who work it.
